Are you a hands-on technical leader with deep ERP and SQL experience, ready to guide a small development team and support a complex business-critical environment?

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Software Development Manager to lead a high-performing team within a long-established, multi-channel retail business. This role focuses on maintaining and optimising an existing Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP environment while driving small-scale efficiency and automation improvements.

THE ROLE

As Software Development Manager, you will:

  • Oversee day-to-day maintenance and enhancement of a large-scale Dynamics AX platform
  • Manage and mentor a tight-knit team of developers, data analysts, and web specialists (approx. 5-6 people)
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand workflows and translate needs into practical technical solutions
  • Lead bug fixes, code tracing, and system health monitoring to ensure operational continuity
  • Drive small-to-medium automation initiatives to improve business efficiency
  • Balance hands-on technical involvement with leadership responsibilities

ABOUT YOU

** Applicants will ONLY be considered if they meet the below criteria**

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX, X++, SQL, and ERP processes
  • Experience working within or managing ERP systems related to finance, inventory, CRM, and multichannel retail
  • Proven ability to lead small development teams and manage stakeholder expectations
  • A natural curiosity and persistence in code tracing and debugging
  • A pragmatic approach - willing to maintain legacy systems while identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical colleagues

YOUR BACKGROUND

** Applicants will ONLY be considered if they meet the below criteria**

  • 5+ years in software development and team management
  • Technical expertise with ERP systems, SQL, and databases
  • Ideally a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar
  • Experience in mid-size or complex businesses with multiple operational systems

WHY YOU'LL LOVE THIS ROLE

  • A stable, well-respected business with a strong internal tech team
  • Clear focus: Maintain and optimise, not endless transformation
  • Autonomy to lead and solve problems your way
  • Work closely with senior business leaders and see the direct impact of your work
  • Salary circa $160K- $180K + Super (with flexibility based on experience)
  • Free onsite parking
  • Team get-togethers, working in a fun, collaborative environment
