THE ROLE
We're looking for a commercially savvy Category Manager to take ownership of a broad, fast-moving product portfolio within the Everyday & Entertaining space. The role spans general merchandise and consumables and is responsible for a high-SKU, high-volume category with a large, diverse supplier base.
The category carries a significant commercial value within the business and plays a key role in driving both topline performance and strategic growth.You'll balance range planning, supplier negotiation, promotional execution and NPD, all while driving sales, margin and operational performance.
Own end-to-end category management - from product lifecycle planning to trading and supplier management
Lead NPD across both functional and trend-led product lines
Build and execute commercial plans to grow sales and profitability
Manage a large local and offshore supplier network
Provide guidance and mentorship to a dedicated Category Assistant
Work cross-functionally with planning, marketing, logistics and store operations
Contribute to supplier strategy and identify future category opportunities
Attend key industry events and supplier visits (2-3 trips per year)
ABOUT YOU
5+ years' experience in category management, buying, or merchandise planning
Background in retail, FMCG, food, or general merchandise categories
Highly organised and analytical, with a data-led and commercial mindset
Strong negotiation skills and supplier relationship management
Enjoys balancing NPD with core range maintenance and performance optimisation
Confident managing high SKU counts across multiple suppliers
Collaborative communicator and cross-functional team player
ERP system experience (e.g. Microsoft NAV) highly regarded
Tertiary qualifications in business, supply chain, or marketing preferred
